Trains aren't scary or spooky. I have never been in a LA or New York subway, but I rode them everywhere in Europe. The only scary thing about them was that someone jumped in front of our train to commit suicide, halted the train, and we had to figure out what to do/ which train to ride next without knowing any useful words of the native language. I feel really sorry for the train conductors as well. It must be a hard job.

hate to disagree but there is nothing like the sound of a steam locomotive ( prefer the Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 Challenger or Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 Big Boy ) whistle blowing through the air especially with thunder and lightening accompanying it. any steam locomotive beats the Diesels and interurban but these have haunting sounds too. they sing a song if you listen.

What? What do you base that on? What trains? As in subways? Steam driven locomotives? Amtrak trains? Bullet trains?
