I am fairly new to selling on E-Bay although I have bought on it loads of times. I sold an item on Monday and have heard nothing from the buyer yet wrt payment. I know that if I buy, I pay straightaway but was wondering when would be the right time to drop them an e-mail. I have looked at their feedback and everything seems ok so I don't want them to think I am just being impatient. Can anyone give me an idea when to send a gentle 'reminder'?Thanks.

I sent the invoice as soon as the auction had finished.

Hi there!.

Have you stipulated when payment should be made by (e.g within 7 days) as you are allowed to iclude that in you add. i have a message saying if payment has not been arranged within 7 days then it will result in negative feedback.

You are also allowed to, at the time of advertising, stipulate that you require immediate payment, however as the sale has already gone through you cannot do that this time obviously!

If you as a seller, would have liked to have heard something from your buyer by now then I personally would send them a brief, but friendly email.

I'm a prompt payer myself and would like to think that people would do the same for me if I was the seller.

Have you sent them an invoice? Sometimes buyers wait for the seller to initiate contact. If you haven't sent an invoice, do so. I you have sent an invoice, I would give three days (which would be tomorrow) before I contacted the buyer again, and resend the invoice at that time.

If you don't hear anything within 48 hours after sending the second invoice, then I would send an email asking if they have received the invoice and what method of payment they are planning to use.

It is possible that the buyer is having computer problems, family problems, you name it. I usually give them a full 7 days before I start getting really concerned - although I contact them as outlined above during that time.

I am also one of those buyers who whenever possible pays by Paypal the minute the auction is over - but not everyone is like that.

Good luck!

It's usual to hear from they buyer within two days of the auction ending, and to receive payment within a week. If you still haven't heard anything within five days, send them a reminder via ebay, or send them an email to hurry them up a bit. If they've got good feedback, it's probably nothing to worry about - they might be away for a few days or may have internet problems.

I used to give a week before I would make the gentle reminder...I also stated the length of time in which I expected the payment in the add for the item I was selling. UNLESS otherwise arranged. It's simple...no payment, no item. Then you can re-list. Just use common sense, after all your selling it for the money so you need to make your acceptable outlines for the sale obvious in your advert without writing 2 pages, that used to put me off buying an item.
Good luck!!!

I would send a gentle reminder after 5 days perhaps asking the purchaser if they have overlooked the invoice and perhaps setting a date for payment.

Send them initial payment instructions within 48 hours of the auction ending. If they have not responded within 3 days of your notice, send a reminder invoice. If you have not received payment within seven business days of the auciton ending, start the non paying bidder process. That is what I do. Good luck!

This depends if you state a pay by date ie:- payment must be recieved within 3-7 days. I usually pay upon invoice. If you have problems with the buyer you should contact them with your concerns.

I always say that they need to pay within 10 days and if I dont receive a payment or any kind of communication concerning payment within 10 days it will be relisted and negative feedback will be left.
Don't hesitate to email them! I would just say, Hey! I noticed you won my auction, Congrats! Please let me know which form of payment you plan on using so I can get your products ready for you. Thanks!
Whenever I win something I usually pay them that day and if not it's NEVER longer than 3 days.
Here's another fun money making site for you.

Fill out surveys and visit websites. No sign up fee and it doesn't cost any money to fill out surveys or to do anything! I've seen up to $45 for 1 survey!
If you refer people you get 20% of what they make and 10% of what their recruits make! It's also not a scam like all of the other websites which suprised me!

I would at least sign up and take a looksy! It's free to sign up!

Did you send them the invoice? try that if you haven't and then send a gentle reminder saying how long they have until you're putting the product back up for sale.

don't send them the product until you get paid. And I'd request the payment up front. I've never sold anything on E-Bay, but I pay as soon as I win the bid. EVERYONE should do that.
