Hey! Italy, Greece and Cyprus are my choices. Those are countries with ancient monuments (temples, theaters,...), well organized travel services, many 4 and 5 star hotels, the famous Greek islands, a lot of places to visit, friendly people, great cuisine, nice smooth climate. But after all the choice is yours!

For a first time I'd reccomend a guided tour that hits some of the best cities. My Favs: Paris, Rome, Salzburg, Venice, Florence, Bruges, London, Berlin, Dresden, Koln, Prague, Budapest, Athens

Obviously you'll have to limit that unless you have all summer. I'd do a capitals type tour - Rome - London - Paris guided with train or bus. That's a great intro to europe. I'd nix the cruise. Too much time wasted for europe. Do a cruise in the carribean.

Later you can go again. Freestyle it after you are more comfortable with the region. I do freestyle with my boys now 1,2,and 7 (the 1 year old has already been twice.) We just pick up cheap air when it happens usually November and March are good to us, and we've done three last minute new years trips.

Happy travels

Hi there! I went to Europe for the first time in the summer of 2005 on an 11 day cruise on Princess Cruise Lines and had a BLAST! I wouldn't recommend any other way. I first stayed 2 days in London before boarding my ship at a really nice hotel in the Kensington Park area, and was able to spend one day out in the country seeing Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, and we were going to do Bath as well, but ran out of time as it was a bank holiday and everything was closing early =(. The 2nd day we did all the touristy stuff like Tower of London, Changing of the Guard, saw the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, and that last night in London I saw Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre...awesome experience. (my favorite play which I had to see while in London) We then set sail the next morning and visited France (I went to Paris), Belgim, Germany (I went to Berlin), Denmark (I went to Copenhagen), and Norway (Oslo). Out of the 6 countries I went to, I highly recommend Germany, Belgium, and France. Germany and France for the historical value (Paris for the Eiffel Tower of course) and Belgium especially if you like architecture and old buildings...Belgium is also known for its chocolate and lace. I hope to someday go to Scotland and Ireland but I will be doing a coach tour on those, probably with Trafalgar Tours (http://www.trafalgartours.com). Enjoy wherever you go...remember traveling isn't a dream, it is a destiny! =)

Ireland Ireland Ireland. Beautiful, friendly, lots of culture ... Trinity College, Book of Kells, home of James Joyce, lots of history.

Good intro to Europe since it's a realtively short flight from the US, and because it's English speaking.

Stay at the Fitzpatrick's Castle Hotel just south of Dublin in Killiney.

PRAGUE-Czech Republic.
ITALY
Being in Spain. Nice country. Was in seven different Hotels and NON had a newspaper in English. I was told by one of the workers, IT'S a SPANISH speaking country. The same as AMERICA.
But where ever you decide to go have a wonderful time and do not flash the money. You have to be careful EVERY WHERE in Europe.

It's hard to lose, but I'd say Rome -- especially if the tweens are girls. Fantastic scenery and food and not all that expensive by european standards. Take an excursion to Pompeii while you are there. They are nice to Americans too.
