I'm Canadian but I did go to school in Iowa for a time and have several American friends, however I believe our cultures are very similar when we talk about pop culture. In your country, maybe more than ours, you have been indoctrinated with "the American Dream". Not a bad thing but when you meld that with every advertising and marketing strategy aimed at you telling you that ego is king, it doesn't take long before the American Dream becomes less about making something of your self and more about being famous. It's a shame that fame is more the result of good fortune than hard work which is harder to take away or dismiss and that the fame itself is so fleeting, like most of the products being sold today.
