Just how society is, as a whole, it tends to pick on the faults of a person who markets himself highly, but turns around and uplifts the praises of a person undersells themselves, and lets their actions speak their worth.

Would you rather have your character defined by what comes out of your mouth about you, or by your actions?

My actions, our opinions of ourselves are rarely the same as how others view us. I don't tell other people what I am capable of, I show them.

I'd like to think that my actions back up my words, but I'm not perfect.

I also have foot in mouth disease, sadly that seems incurable, but my actions so far are either strong, and good, or at the very least repairable.

So at the end of the day, I choose to let my actions speak for me, and try to keep my mouth shut.

I want to be the one who defines--and revises--my character. I don't want to be confined at any one stage in my life. I am constantly learning and changing.

People can only "determine" someone else's character by what that person says, and what he or she actually DOES. And that IS worth something. But others don't know the internal condition of our hearts.

What I want to "define" or "shape" my character are my experiences: my strengths as well as my weaknesses. I'll always be made stronger by my struggles, and, hopefully, a little wiser from my mistakes.

Also, intentions are important. I may not always "produce" the action that best represents my true intentions because I'm human and fallible. Sometimes I really mean one thing, but may not be able to adequately "output" that.

Part of what defines us, I think, is our intentions. Because everything in life that we pursue will always reflect, to some degree, our hearts: in the things we do and say. Our emotional STATES are temporary and always subject to change. And sometimes they lead us astray. But if, in our core, we are good people with Honorable intentions, we will find our own way. Only we can define that for ourselves.

I may have confused even myself in this answer ...

Actions speak louder than words

~~~ Prissy,,,, If I am truly Humble, my words will support my actions. Actions are the verification of words. If one is to judge, then it is one's obligation to find the truth in the matter. Or if time permits then one must employ another Character Element,,,, called Trust. Then given time, one may thus prove their character by both. "Actions speak louder than Words" only applies if The Words are suspect,,, but we do need verification.
Actions speak louder than words.
'Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks', said the greatest man who ever lived. I believe our words should be chosen carefully, but our actions need to reflect that we will keep our word. Our actions speak volumes, and our words can be like honey and attract many sweet friends.
Actions are all that really matter. After all, Hitler Stalin and Moussulini all believed within themselves that they were really great people and had every moral right to do what the world considered reprehensible.
Either would be okay because I was taught to speak only and in a manner of, what I can back up with actions. : -)
Thoughtful queston by the way.
My actions, opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one and some of them are imperfect. I don't take praise very well, it makes me uncomfortable, I like to do just do the work then step back.
