Hiding under the table at age 32 - There was a luncheon for my co-worker yesterday?

When the food came out and it was time to celebrate, he hid under the table ... How does one explain this? He mentioned that as a child he would do that at his birthday parties, but at this age????

Was he embarrassed when people figured out what he was doing? The man needs some help there.

I don't want to make fun of someone with a problem, but I believe I'd have to test out this phobia in a public place. Just to see if he's pulling your leg.

He was being dramatic, making a funny gesture to communicate his feelings of embarrassment and not liking being on the spot. He was joking and being serious at the same time. People do that.

as a child i wore diapers and **** in them, but i grew up and now use a toilet.

he has a strange sense of humor or
he is in touch with his inner child or
he is looking for attention or
he is socially retarded or
he is mentally retarded.

i would vote for "looking for attention" or "mentally unstable", but without knowing anything more about him it's hard to say.

how does this coincide with/differ from his behavior that you have been witness to in the past?
