if that is the kind of thing that gets you mad for an entire morning, then he was right, you aren't going to be able to handle being a teacher.

He sound very wrong to me I think if you have a dream you should persue it go for it life does not last long i would rather have some dreams come true than a life full of regret because someone did not believe in me i feel so sorry and hope the best for you don't let him get in the way of you making a dream come true. you have every right to be hurt, mad and lost as to why he would act like that i really hope the best for you Good Luck !

I believe he was wrong in telling you that you could never be a teacher. You could be ANYTHING you want to be, if you're serious and persistent about it.... You also mentioned that you "got mad"...now I ask you. Are you ready for the challenge? Being a teacher places you in a position where students will tell you things you won't like.... Will you be "mad" with them? or will you try to find a solution to persuade the student. Something to think about. But if you're serious, by all means go for it girlfriend!!!!

It depends on his motivations behind what he said. If my wife told me she wanted to be a nuclear chemist, I'd tell her she was nuts. Why, because she hates math and chemistry, so it would be rediculous for her to even try. Maybe he truly believes you could never handle the stress of dealing with kids. Maybe he's right. Maybe he's guilty of not being more tactful. However, if he is just saying that to keep you barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, then you have every right to be mad.

NO, you are not wrong. He is not supportive and he is a shift blamer. He has got to be a punk kid! If he isn't, then he should know better than to be like that and you should dump his sorry ***; like right now. You can do better.
Any yes, you could be a teacher, a lawyer, or whatever.
Don't EVER let anyone think you aren't worthy or good enough for something you want!

He gave you his honest opinion.
Being supportive means he'll take on more chores so you have more time to study for a test or work on a project.
BTW, if you blow up at his single opinion what makes you think you can handle 20-30 kids not wanting to listen to you.
Your boyfriend should be honest with you first and fore most.
So you were wrong in this situation.

He is only a boyfriend after all - not a life partner - don't expect too much as far as that is concerned. If he were - yeah - you should be mad. But - if teaching is what you are passionate about - go for it!! Nothing can stop your love for teaching - and no man should get between you and what you want out of life!!!

NO! Do not let someone choose for you what you are good for. You have your own thoughts and I think you should go for it. You are not overreacting this is the first sign of control. Do not let this man control you. You don't have to say anymore to him about it; If he wants to be stubborn and pig headed about you becoming a teacher let him. Go after what you think is good for you, not him!
You sound like a very smart woman but you shouldn't doubt yourself.

Since he responded so quickly, maybe he was joking. It's hard for me to tell whether my fiance is joking or being serious sometimes, so that's a possibility. If he was serious, you do have a right to be upset. He should be telling you you can do anything you put your mind to.

Supporting you is part of being a good partner. I would sure look at this situation with this guy and why he would not want you to be a teacher. Good luck, honey.
