His stand-up is a load of sh*te and while we're at it neither is Peter Kay funny in stand-up. Enjoyed Max and Paddy though.
Did any-one see that one hour special when Larry David met Ricky Gervais and they were just back-slapping each other about comedy. About what we are supposed to find funny, Oh that daddy long-legs thing so funny ha ha

The Office had moments that were funny (none of which involved David Brent!) and the highlight of Extras for me was the "Chubby little loser" song. I really don't want to see his episode of The Simpsons - it's been going downhill anyway, I don't want to watch it crash and burn because of him.

Ricky Gervais just is not funny. His stand up is pretty bad. I know it's a matter of taste, but I really don't find him funny, and neither do my family.

I think we're all stuck in the 70/80's in my house when it comes to comedy anyway - Only Fools And Horses and the Two Ronnies, anyone? - so... yeah.

Yes, he's funny. no doubt, not everyone finds everything funny..

Office is class, albeit cringeworthy

Watch his stand-up, "Animals" and "Politics", I own both (and all the office ones), the Animals one is particularly funny.

The stuff he does that makes me laugh most is his "Pilkinton" (i think) stuff, where his mate (cant remember his full name), appears - they've done some webcasts that had me in bits - and I rarely laugh out loud when watching comedy - so it's gets the thumbs up from me.

(I thought he was funny back in the "11o'clock show" days )

I think Ricky was very good in the UK Office and Steve Carell does a nice job in the US version

Yeah I know what you mean though i did fine the office funny, seeing extras now makes me wonder if he is a 'one trick pony'
Thats not to say he isnt funny just that he has a particular style and thats what he does.

I like Mitchell and Webb. I loved their sitcom Peep Show too, it was mental and very funny. Do you like surreal? check it out.

I've just commented on another question about him. I'll say it again because you can't insult Ricki Gervais too much I don't think. He's as funny as stepping in dog poo. And I get fed up with people saying that you don't 'get' his humour just because you don't find him funny. I get it - it's just been done far better.

i dont find him funny at all.
i understand why some people find it funny but it just doesnt make me want to laugh or even smile.

he comes across quite arrogant when he is interviewed.

my boyfriend thinks he is hilarious but i just think he got lucky. the only thing that he has wrote which made me laugh was that teribble dance which has now been over played to death so it isnt funny anymore.

Maybe, in places, it was too subtle... e.g. slight changes in facial expression.
Perhaps you didn't have the familiarity with the stereotypes being portrayed???
Perhaps the political correctness gone wrong didn't grab you???

Yes, Homer Simpson is very funny but in a completely different way.
