I keep hearing that it's fantastic etc, but nobody ever gives a reason why...and each time I try to go to the bookstore to find it, they never have Twilight (although New Moon is stocked). Why is this so popular?

Here are my reasons:
1) Stephenie Meyer is a great writer. She's good at developing exciting fast-paced plots AND at developing believable characters.
2) The way she writes the romance between Bella and Edward is incredible. The way she writes it just sizzles. There is nothing graphic. They only kiss. But the chemistry she builds between them, the way she describes how they look at each other, feel about each other, it just brings a smile to your face.
3) Even if you think you hate vampire books, you may end up loving Twilight. It's the 'vampire' book for those that hate or are indifferent to the genre.
4) It is one of the best YA books to come out in recent years. I'd definitely put it in my top ten list of books.
Those four reasons are my personal reasons...
I would add that another reason 'Twilight' is a big deal is WORD OF MOUTH. People who read it can't help but talk about it with others and spread the word. It is a book you get excited about it and want to talk about and share. There are websites, forums, myspace pages, etc. dedicated to the series.
But I would also add that vampires are very popular in YA lit at the moment. They're very trendy at the moment. And I would say that Twilight is the best of the best of this new crop of books.

omg!!!! I love Twilight and New Moon(sorry got too excited). I personally think that these books are worth reading. Once you start reading Twilight you can't stop and can't wait to read New Moon. I read Twilight in three days. It's just too interesting and exciting. I can't explain. Can't wait till Eclipce is out next fall. You will fall in love with both Edward and Bella. I'm sorry but if I tell you I will spoil it for you. When you get hold of the books you'll know why it's a big deal. =]

I desire Edward, because of the fact even nevertheless he's in basic terms a character the way Stephenie Meyer defined him made me fall in love with him! i could like the thought Bella grew to become right into a vampire, it could make the e book extra exciting and if she would not and he or she does marry Edward then in basic terms she would be waiting to advance previous and Edward could nevertheless be youthful finding. yet I do accept as true with the girl previously me, she would be waiting to no longer be an identical Bella. So i could substitute my suggestions...

It is a really good book. I picked it up just becuase it was there I had not heard anything about it. New Moon was good too but a bit slower and alot sadder.
I liked it because it is a great love story, has adventure and vampires =)

the big deal is that a ,magnitude of people like it, the reason why is beacause it is fantastic. simple enough, if you want to read about modern vampires with many twists pick up the book, just read it, if you don't like then you don't like it, if you do great get the sequel
