I believe it is a multiple choice question with the last 4 lines being choices A,B,C, and D. If this is the case, the most correct answer would be "C"- mirror-image perceptions. Empathy is the ability to feel what another person is feeling or seeing something from their point of view without personally experiencing it yourself. This can be acheived by imagining that the other person is a mirror reflection of yourself and putting yourself in their position to gain a better understanding.

empathy can be given from a distance, without being directly involved, or having a common experience, or have ever experienced it. you're a bystander,on the outside looking in.
for instance, people in england can empathize with the katrina victims.
whereas a person who lived in new orleans and lost everything they owned can sympathize with someone who lost everything they owned during the tsunami.
