they get paid so much money for kicking a ball round a field, while their girlfreinds go and spend loads and loads of money on clothes (well thats their hobby) and they play crap football. But all that money they get when there is children dying because they have no food and hospitals closing down, its not fair.Anyone agree?

it's ridiculous. no way should any sportsperson get paid more than doctors and teachers and all the other people out there slaving away trying to make this world a better place. I know there are some footballers who put their fame and money to good use but for every good guy there's like 5 idiots. this must have been a year or 2 ago but I still can't get over Beckham paying something like a million pounds for this one little ring for Victoria's bday. it made front page of the sun, I actually remember reading about it and wanting to punch him. that money could have saved hundreds of lives and instead it was totally wasted. their kids are spoilt rotten as well. if all footballers got half of what they earn now they'd still be rich and that money could be put to better use. I dont get it at all...

No, I don't agree with you. You, obviously don't know a whole lot about footbal or the NFL. The majority of NFL teams and players donate a lot of money, each year to various charities. Most teams sponser at least one charity. The New England patriots do a lot with St. Judes Hospital for children. Some other teams support Ronald McDonald House another children's charity.
Some support Make A Wish and Children's Wish Foundation.
Some player's do United Way and The Salvation Army....
The newspapers, tv, and radio are usually full of stories about that, especially this time of year.
If children are your focus and worry, why don't you get involved yourself instead of whining about others percieved lack of involvement. Go to google and do a search for local charities in your area. Contact them. I'm sure they could use a donation of
your time or money to help out.

They make that much money because the entertainment industry makes that much money. If the talent didn't sell out stadiums, there would be no reason for that talent to get paid that much. That's why the guys that sit on the bench don't get paid nearly as much.

As for hospitals shutting down and yada yada yada...

While some sports players are greedy and don't give their money to anybody, a vast majority of them do. To say that none of them care about less fortunate people in the world is unfair.

football is the quintessential living room sport. you can stay warm. get drunk. eat tons of food thats horrible for you. then go to sleep after the games over.

heat the fryer up, get some chicken wings with franks red hot, a couple 6 packs of dark ale, some cheese sticks, and catfish filets and pray for a heart attack. just dont forget to go to the gym for the next 3 months.

donate some of your own time if you want to make a difference in the world, dont rag on someone else for something they do for a living.

by your standards you should hate basketball players and movies stars too. basketball players make more money than football players. movie stars are pulling in $50 mil for movies and some of them spend money on buying houses that are $100- 30 million bucks.and some of the players do give me to a lot of charities, and will send money and food around the world to other countries. so how can you seat here and only judge football players? you should be mad at the whole world cause they're not giving all of their money to hospitals.

Professional football is a business, pure and simple. It is merely a method of offering a service and extracting money for that service. Passion & loyalty always take a back seat to profit. As hideous as it seems to you and me these footballers earn what the clubs are willing to pay for them.

I totally agree with you. Although alot of NFL players do give back to the communities and to charities, I think they are paid WAY too much money. I've always believed that no athlete should make more money than the President of the United States that runs our country (not Bush). That just tells you that it IS all about money. People will always pay to see sports entertainment.

yummy you have to accept things as they are!! yes they do get paid a lot of money but if the clubs are willing to pay them they would be fools to say no!! perhaps they could all give a 1% to all the starving around the globe and the down and outs in this country

The problem isn't really the footballers, it is the people who are willing to pay money to see them. As well as the advertising dollars spent on the tube. So the problem lies with society as a whole choosing to spend their money on sports instead of directing it to what you consider worthwhile causes. And frankly, while they are worthwhile causes, not everyone is willing to spend their money on them, they want to be entertained.

Yeah but who provides them with the publicity to earn that much money??? us, the fans... so before saying something look at the bigger picture... oh and btw if you think football is just "kicking a ball round a field", go look at the scars on Micheal Owen's leg.
