My hubby and I are thinking of buying a house in Lowell, MA. Can anyone tell us the better areas of the city?

Lowell is not entirely desirable. If you can afford it Newton, Cambridge and Brookline are all really nice but somewhat expensive. More affordibly priced close-to-Boston neighborhoods include Somerville, Jamaica Plain, Hyde Park, Roslindale, Dedham, Needham, Waltham, Reading, Wilmington, Woburn....
