only insulate the floor, [sealing of room below] ridge vent is suppossed to be open so as the air can circulate form your soffets to the ridge vents.because if ridge vents are blocked you will get moisture in your attic, and everthing will start rotting away

You should insulate the floor in your attic, to keep the heat or cold from getting into your house. The best treatment for the roof of the attic is installing a radiant barrier to help keep heat build up to a minimum.
