Not sure if you like this idea or not, but I actually took old stumps from people that had cut down their trees. Sounds funny doesn't it! Well, I put them on each side of my front window and 2 along the side garden. I took large potting planters and put in asparagus ferns. Those plants are really easy to keep and don't take alot of water. They have now grown over the pot and hang along side the old tree stump. It looks very cool and "woodsy" around the house.

STUMP GRINDER. Maybe you can rent one (most things are rental these days), or find a tree felling company that uses one. It's a fairly big piece of equipment. Some even fit on a truck. They put it on the stump, and in five minutes the stump is gone, grounded to mulch.

I agree with most of the folks above - I would hollow it out and use it as a planter. I would also plant more greenery around the base of the stump. Not only will this incorporate it into your landscape, but having things growing in and around it will help the stumps to rot away faster. (Nature at work!)

well I know of a couple of ways you can use the stumps... 1 you can put a pretty potted plant on the top of the stump, and 2 you can plant running plants around it, ferns and clovers are a great cover up for things you like to hide in the yard.

Tree stumps left are an eyesore and will be a nuisance. Use the money you would use to cut down another tree to have the stump ground (this gets rid of it and you will be glad you did).

Depends on how big the stump is, but you could sort of make a flower pot out of it if you hollow out the inside. Or hire someone to make it into a sculpture!

if you cant dig most of it up, try to take a chain saw and cut it into squares while still in the ground then itll deteriarate quicker.
or decorate it with an angel and turn it inot an altar.
or how about a seat? attach a natural-looking wooden back too it.

I've seen people dig out the center and turn it into a flower pot. Turn it into a table, or you can place fake birds on it and dress it up to look like an arrangement of some sort.
good luck

Make a giant "mushroom" out of it by taking a 5 inch high crosscut piece from another discarded tree. Make sure the diameter is slightly larger than the diameter of the trunk in question. Mount the circular slab onto your trunk. You may have to attach with spikes if the slope is too great for the slab to simply sit on top of the trunk. This becomes a quaint accent piece. Flowers or ferns could be planted around the base.
