Power.

I think it's a family trait.

I think the above answer was referring to Howard Taft.

Maybe W is President because he failed at every other job he had. He could no longer fool the business world into giving him a job, so all that was left, was to fool >50 Million ignorant people into voting for him.

He failed in the Texas Air National Guard (AWOL), failed as owner of the Texas Rangers, failed as a big Texas oil executive. What else but turn to politics.

Because he is a great man, a great man! I mean he is very large in fact larger than any other president before him. Well everyone except Martin Van Buren who stood something like ten feet tall and whose girth at times was compared to that of a large whale.

I would say for the same reason as most everybody else who aspired to the job. He had a vision of how he felt things should be and wanted to make his mark on history.

IMO it is foolish to assume selfish or criminal motives just because you did not vote for somebody.

Obviously to follow in his father's footsteps. Not a bad thing. His father is his role model there are far worse aspirations.

That's a good question. I would imagine that it was it at least partly because he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps, but I can't help but think that Jeb would've probably been less incompetent than Dubya. I'm not a Jeb fan, either, but he seems to be a little bit brighter than his brother.

Maybe to show his classmates that he could become something. Wonder if that's why he had his class reunion,at the white house, the day after the Invasion of Iraq?

For power, for control over the oil industry. To finish what his father wisely didn't. For the renewal of fear and distrust in our country of foreigners. Watch the movie "why we fight". I think you ll get an idea of what i mean.

i think he is a clone of his daddy [ there was a movie, multiplicity, which was a comedy about cloning and the guy that cloned himself, Michael Keaton, had copies that were not as good as the original just like all copies, something is lost in translation!]
