The smallest surviving baby was a little girl born at 25 weeks weighing only 8oz. She is doing very well.

Anything is possible. You are lucky that we live in a day where the NICU can closely simulate the mothers womb and allow the baby to continue to grow and develop. If he has grow to this size even thought he has an unhealthy placenta, then he shows he is a fighter and he is trying to do his best. Just have faith and try to have good thoughts. You are in for a long road, and I hope all works out well for you.

While I've not had a personal experience with this, I have read in most of my pregnany books that babies born after 22 weeks have a very good chance of surviving, so your grandson definitely has a chance. Also, with the availability of NICU and all of its advancements, I'd say the little guy is already on his way to becoming healthy. Keep your hopes up and your prayers flowing! :)

I've never been there, but my guess would be that he has a good chance of being okay. He'll probably be in the NICU for awhile, but if he's at a good hospital they'll do everything they can and will get him through it all. Those tiny babies are little fighters sometimes! I'll keep you both in my prayers. God bless :-)
