I have a Samsung Digimax 301 digital camera. I was wondering if there was any way that, connecting my camera to my PC, I can view what I am about to take a photo of on my PC monitor instead of using the small built in LCD on the camera. Are there any programs that allow me to do this?

Maybe. Your camera probably came with several video cables (for connecting it to a VCR or television). One of them should be an s-video cable (check the instructions to find out which one it is), and if your computer has an s-video input jack, then you should be able to plug it directly into your computer. Windows Movie Maker would be able to capture video from your s-video input, but I am not sure how easy it would be to get a live preview.

I have found that many laptops come with the s-video input jack... I am not sure how many desktop computers have one installed.

you can't view the actual picture but you can see a preview of it if your digi cam acts as a webcam. quality would be horrible looking at it in webcam mode but this is the only way that I know of to do this. You need to probably download a webcam software like Webcam32 or Active Webcam and test it out. This is of course if your digital cam has a webcam or pc cam function

There is a way my mate rigged up his camera to do exactly this, It had a standard cable but I did not ask about software and it is to late to ask him now sorry, but it can be done.
