Anything above 102 is considered high, but it also depends on how long they have had the fever. If it has been going for several days about 100 and tylenol is not bringing it down, that is serious also. Most pediatricians have nurses in the office that do not mind advising you over the phone. Most likely a little tylenol and rest and if any worse they will have you come in. Take care and good luck!

I agree that anything over 102 is something to really worry about, but also take into account how your child is feeling. Is the baby lethargic? Non-responsive? Are you taking a rectal temperature? How long has he or she had the fever? Even a fever of 100 can be bad if it sticks around more than a day or two. Low grade fevers like that can be a sign of infection. If you're really worried, call the pediatrician. You know your child best. If you think they need to see a doctor, they probably do.
Hope your baby feels better.

A temp above 103.00 is considered high and dangerous.
A temp between 100-102 is considered high but okay to treat at home with tylenol or motrin.
A temp under 99.9 or less I tend to see if it works out on its own.

Anything above 103, the doctors will just tell you to go home and give them motrin and ibuprofin and make sure they are hydrated. So I would say just give them plenty of fluids and medicine and it will go away. Just watch for signs for other problmes.
