I was considering going to college(possibly at the school of Visual Arts in NYC) to get a degree in photography. I am wondering if this would be a good decision. Are there any jobs for photographers nowadays? What kind of jobs could I obtain? I could use some advice from some professional photographers. Thanks.

It depnds on what you want to do. You could start your own studio and do family/children's portraits, wedding photos, etc. You could be a news photographer, you could do art photos and try to get your work in galleries. The entertainment industry need photographers for movie posters, cd covers, promotion pictures, etc. Paparazzi are always needed. You could even work for a school portrait company.

If yo plan on owning your own studio, I would highly reccomend minoring or double majoring in business. You could minor in journalism as well.
