The county clerk keeps all the records of marriages and divorces. It is a matter of public record. Call them up, you might not be able to do this over the phone but you can get the address then and write a letter with a money order for a copy of the divorce papers from the court. I'd think if I was getting a divorce, I'd know when it was final.

Get ahold of the county clerk's office and they will be able to look up to see if there is any record of divorce with your name on it. You will need to provide them with a time frame so that they can narrow their search down. Also you might have to actually go to the clerk's office and sign a paper requesting the information. You need to provide names and dates.

if you were married in cook county, all you have to do is go to the courthouse and check with records. they will ask what record you're needing and just tell them. but the marriage certificate and filing and the actual marriage would have had to taken place in cook county.
