Here is what I believe about destiny and free will. There is some great cosmic force that sets about the big things like comets crashing into Siberia instead of London, and droughts, and famines, and plagues, and whatever. Within those constructs we all have free will and as we exercise that free will we affect and are affected by our environment. Chance is also part of the variation allowed within the constructs. So you have chance and free will of you and everyone else bouncing around within this framework. Now you add not timing, but the time/space continuum to the equation. This is the flowing, living, breathing, force that carries everything along with it as it travels through the corridors of the framework created by the great cosmic force. Okay, so you have the big picture pre-destination stuff and you have free-will and chance and time/space which all combine to affect our daily lives and what lies ahead of us also. This of course also includes love and everything else. I think it should be noted that the affect is relative and correlates nicely to the size of the event. For example the perfect person for you, but born in 1905 (an arbitrary date choice) would not work out too well. On the other hand meeting someone (oh lets say, 6 months after you are already married) is an obstacle that can be overcome.

When you get a puppy do you love it instantly? Or does your heart grow stronger with love over time. You could learn to love anybody if give time and the understanding of what makes a relationship.
The path or seed to your beginning started in the heavens far before it started here in the material world. You may have free will, but only to a point.Everyone you meet you met before in the spiritual realm.
this peace in the movie is taken from a budist philosophy

Absolutely true. True love comes when you least expect it and it has to happen at the right place, at the right time. God has a plan for everyone and if meeting your soulmate is included in those plans, then He will be working behnd the scenes putting all the right people and opportunities in your path. ll leading to that exact moment in time when you will meet that special someone.

Well, how one feels about your statement is going to depend on large measure on their religious/philosophical beliefs.
If one believes that there is a "force" or "intelligence" of some sort guiding each individual human's destiny, then, of course, the timing is really irrelevant. What is meant to be, will be.
But if one believes that we shape our own destiny, without and "guidance" from outside, then, of course, timing is vital ("Ripeness is all".)
Personally, I waver between the two. On some days, I think that "everything happens for a reason"; on others, I suspect that it's all a gigantic crap shoot.

Exactly. Love is just a matter of trust and comfort established based on the circumstances and gradually over time, based on compatibility and mutual affection. This means there is no one person we are destined to love, and most of the time we are falling in and out of love with our beloved.

I think there is a little timing to it but also more then that. I think that it also has to do with acceptance. I think that meeting that right person will be easier if you aren't looking. When your looking you tend not to see what is important. Love is not sex.
But yea, I think there is some timing to it.

Love isn't something that just automatically comes to you right when you lock eyes with someone. It takes time and work. But, this statement suggests that he isn't very happy w/ his current love life?

I would have to say that it is a combination of timing and hormones.
