There should be a self clean button on your stove. Make sure you don't have anything in the over except the grates. The oven door should automatically lock. You should consult your operating manual.

remove any pots or pans from the oven. remove the racks too if the manual callls for this. Set the gas control on the clean cycle and go find another spot to haunt for a few hours till it does its thing.

Don't you just flip the door lock to the CLEAN position and then turn the temperature control to CLEAN? I have never heard that it requires anything more complicated than that.

Remove all racks and turn it on. Open windows and leave home for a few hours.
