Unlike your shoulder joint, the hip is very, very difficult to dislocate and then reduce spontaneously since it is a ball and socket joint. That popping sound is probably a tendon passing over the tip of the bone in your hip. Rather difficult to explain to you if you have no medical background. Suffice it to say that it takes a very great amount of force to dislocate a hip joint and there is very little chance that it will reduce spontaneously without the expertise of an orthopedist.
