Because of the trees. When driving down the roads in Wyoming and they are covered with trees, the breeze flowing through there will be colder than an open area even though it's sunny and warm. (my friend from Pennsylvania says the same thing).

They are usually spacious and have no or little buildings around to deflect winds. Also if the grass is wet it provides a damp atmosphere.
No heating, no closed areas just wide open spaces.

heated buildings give off heat. That's why it snows less in cities. That's also why cities are extra hot in the summer.

No asphault in parks to absorb and retain heat. At least, not as much as what's on the roads.

And no residual heat from buildings, either.

buildings, cars, pavement all retain the suns heat, later releasing it at night time. parks only have grass and trees and these do not retain the heat as well.

if you watch the weather in your area......city temperatures will always be a few degrees warmer than the country areas for the same reason.

hot days its best to be away from the city, cold days its best to be near them.
