They are if you dont drive very far.......you do lots of driving though and prepair for a hefty bill innit....

Sounds a great idea that you just use the car for your own convenience as and when you need the car.

For many people it isnt practical or neccesary to own a car so this scheme would work for them. I havent tried it myself but am definitely open to the idea and think it offers good value without the `responsibility` of having a car.

Having used pool cars where I worked nobody gave a toss about their condition or safety. If several people just used a car when they wanted it the same thing would apply. Nobody would be responsible and who would decide who got it when two people wanted it at the same time?
If you want a car now and again simply hire one from a garage.
