Sounds like he was hoping you'd make the first move. Generally blokes develop friendships with girls they find attractive. Mainly because it is impossible to sustain a friendship with a girl whilst having a relationship with another girl.
He's probably just that much in awe of you that he doesn't want to mess things up by saying or doing the wrong thing.

Be honest with him, if you like him, and see if he will want to be with you, sometimes that is the only upfront way to find out and make a relationship work. So have some guts and go for it. You might be surprised.

Have one of your friends secretly ask one of his friends who he likes and if the guys dont want to tell the girls then have your friends say that they know someone who likes him-wait do you like him?-and it might be the same person
