They were smart to re-sign him, he's a very reliable pitcher.

Well, I guess you have some high hopes for Moose. I agree on the terms that it was a good sign. I don't care how much he signed for, because, money is not an issue for New York. They are worth $1,000,000,000 according to Forbes, and growing money. The man was a Cy Young candidate before the All-Star break, going 10 - 3 3.24 ERA, before a minor injury. He has won ten games a year for the past 15 season, an American League record. He almost won 20 games in 1995 and 1996, winning 19 in each seasons, he almost threw a perfect game in 2001 against Boston, going until the ninth inning with two outs and two strikes. He is a great pitcher, and I think he has matured in New York. Based on his interviews, I think he finds it his duty as the longest Yankee starter to win a World Series, as he never has. I am very happy he is in New York. I do expect 23 or 25 wins in the next two seasons, giving him at least 262 to 264 career wins, and 115 to 117 wins with New York. Thats good for 13th all-time for the Yankees. However, he has won 147 games for Baltimore, thats their 3rd ll time best. He also has 1535 strike outs, 2nd all time Oriole most, for Baltimore. I hate to say it, but if he gets to the hall of fame, I think he will wear a Baltimore cap, but I think he likes New York a little more, because New York wins more for him. Hopefully, they will win for him in 2007 and 2008, because, once again, they will be the best team in the MLB. It's just a matter of how lucky they will get, since they have been the best team in the majors since at least 1998.

I'm not a fan of it. While it is hard to argue with a pitcher who puts up winning records year after year, he is an awful playoff pitcher. The Yankees already have an unreliable pitcher in Johnson and Carl "Everhurt" Pavano. The only good thing is it's only a 2 year contract. The Yankees need a power pitcher because nobody is getting over 9 Ks a game.
So now the rotation is:
Wang
Mussina
Johnson

If they succeed in signing Igawa he will probably be the 3rd or 4th starter. They are most likely bringing up Hughes next season as well (most likely). If Hughes doesn't come up, they will probably continue pursuing Lilly or Meche (I'd prefer Meche). Pavano will probably never pitch again for the Yankees.

Your way ahead of yourself. I like Mussina as much as the other guy but he's not a HOF pitcher yet. He's going to need at least 300 victories to get in. I like your enthusiam though. He was a good move for the Yankees because they know what they have. A couple more moves and the Yankees will be there again.

I just hope that he can stay heathly since he can truely be an asset that way, since he is a hard pitcher and to be quite honest I know he's been with the Orioles and the Yankees and for some odd reason I never truely leaving New York.... However I hope he gets a ring before he leaves the game since he deserves one.

i think they would have been crazy not to re-sign him cuz he's still as good as he is; he's one of the most consistent pitchers i've ever seen. overall, i think it was a terrific move.
