when i press ctrl. alt and delete it shows I have 37 programs running. When I checked what some of these 'programs' were it says they are trojans and should not be on the system. Yet I have run spyware doctor and it says the system is fine? any help on deleting the trojans would be helpful.

p.s. I also have norton which doesn't show anything and their website is no use to me as it is too confusing.

Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio: a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy. He hath borne me on his back a thousand times; and now, how abhorred in my imagination it is! my gorge rises at it

Look honestly this problem is not easy to solve and sometimes it can't be solved unless you formatted the PC.
Now you can try this method, but you have to know the name of the virus you got, if you don't know the exact name don't you delete any of the files.
Push start button and type in the run box: regedit
and then open the files, esp. those in your system registry key, each file have a name, sometimes you can identify the virus quickly, because its written. Well i hope so, but after a while am gonna format my PC because a similar trojan. In my case, i can't even enter the run tool.
All the best for you.

There are a bunch of free or demo programs you can run. Anti malware, anti-trojan, anti-virus, anti-adware... and some of them are better than others... but I've come across trojans that there was zero info on, on the net and that none of the anti programs could touch.

Sometimes you just have to back up your important files, reformat your hard-drive and reinstall your operating system.

You can 'usually' find a way of getting rid of these pests though, even if it's looking on the net for a step by step manual fix. Most of those require you to do the fix in safe mode.

If you want to limit your chances of picking up viruses or trojans, use the firefox browser. If you want to really limit your chances, switch from windows to a linux operating system like Mandrake. It's free, it has fewer bugs than windows, it's more stable and almost no one writes viruses/trojans for linux.

In the past i have used McAffee Virus scan. It is one of the best programs to get rid of Trojans. It also does great work on viruses, and Potentialy Unwanted Programs. After it finds them, you can select what files you either want to delete, or even Cure.
Try that it should work.

First unistall all those spyware programs each and every one. They are probally interferring with your antivirus software...then you have to update your virus protection..i suggest norton antivirus 2007. Norton will do its job and remove them from the registry. How do i know this...same exact thing happened to me. Good luck! When you have multi spyware programs it interfered with virus protection and then it can't do its proper job and this is the result.

Or search online "Trojan Remover" to locate some more.

well a registry cleaner might help. Hint when you download free spyware scans they install fake popups that say you have a virus.
I noticed a program on my hardrive called " fakeviruspopupalert ".
well I removed that program.

You could try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:
start
programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore
This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.

in the journey that your 13-12 months-previous has learnt his lesson then only settle for it. you do no longer would desire to prohibit him, that's too harsh. he's barely 13 in spite of everything. My family individuals has norton too and that i will say that its particularly ineffective.. attempt a sparkling anti-virus.
