For movies and games go with the wide screen. But I suppose you will also browse a lot the internet. Personally I don't like wide screen when it comes to displaying web pages.

Then you will want to get the widescreen. The widescreen will show you more of the movie. The regular shaped TV's usually use full screen editions, and to get that, they take the picture and cut the sides off and squish it to fit the TV size. The widescreen allows you to see the entire picture without any of the moderations in the picture.
LCD is a good choice, too.

In a couple years 16:9 ratio (widescreen) will be standard. 4:3 ratio Tvs will be obsolete or you will always have the black bars on the top and the bottom reducing your screen size. When using a 16:9 tv your picture would be bigger rather than using half the screen on the traditional 4:3

Widescreen is the more "future proof" as HDTV is formatted for widescreen. Just make sure whatever you get you get one with a response time of 5 milliseconds (5ms) or LESS, 8ms and higher are too slow to play games on really well.

Its a personal choice - i have a widescreen 19" @ home and a 17" regular at work and i really enjoy my widescreen. Everything looks wider and movies show great on it.

widescreen. by 2010 all tv networks and channels have to be broadcasting in hdtv which is formatted for widescreen. even if you don't have hdtv you will benefit from the widescreen since you won't have the black spaces on the sides or top and bottom of your screen.

attempt Asus! they have a lot extra powerful specs in both evaluation and candle skill. Viewing attitude is extra powerful and that i have not seen one with a foul pixel it rather is consumer-pleasant on more cost-effective video reveal instruments.

you want the regular because you wont use the wide screen much so you will just have two thick black lines on your screen when you watch videos and play games.
