The New C230 sport have more reliability because model been out for couple of years. All kind of problem been improve by the 2007.
The NEW BMW 328I have more Performance and more Technology. But as all way this model just came out this year, you have to expect all kind of problems.
Cost of ownership, C230 is cheaper than 328i, when both brand new.
Resale value in LONG TERM ( 5 year + ) C230 have ADVANTAGE.
in SHORT TERM (4 years or less) BWM have advantage

both are entry level cars and both lack power and room (ever seen the back seat) if you are really considering a Benz or a BMW wait save your money and go for the next size up. If your looking just to try to impress people because you drive a German engineered car those will not do a good job. Everyone knows them as the broke mans Benz or BMW. One other factor you got to think of both are high maintenance and repairs are high once the warranty runs out. Get a caddy instead more room and much more reliable

I would say performace the BMW, reliability Mercedez cost of ownership about the same the resale on a Mercedez will be higher.

Dave is right, go to next size Benz, I got C280, it will beat anything out there on reliability and cost of ownership and almost anything on performance.

both the Ben's and the BMW are only there to show the rest of the world how small you are in the hose if you want to prove some thing buy a mini great car 200 kmh on the autobahn in Germany and europ and it beats the BMW / Ben's with its eyes closed.......

Benz for shure I would go to C280 if you can find one.
great vehicle little problems great resale,a solid car.
I had a BMW nothing but head aches. wiring, steering, brakes,wheel bearings. A true pile of....

go for the Benz.....BMW are killer on parts and maintenance. I had a bimmer and now own a Benz and have never been happier. Good luck!
