What is the big freaking deal with all that.

Because many of us have been bored with "regular" TV shows for a long time. When (good) anime started airing on TV (mainly Cartoon Network/Toonami Midnight Run/Adult Swim) it was like a breath of fresh air, and we got hooked on it-the story lines, the characters, the emotional value, and of course the level of mature content that appealed to an audience that hungered for something to wrap their minds around. Anime is interesting in many different ways, some subtle, and some obvious. We (American viewers) really appreciate how Japanese writers/artists put so much thought and creativity into their shows. We also appreciate how many shows appeal to older audiences.

And this goes for many of us gamers too, myself included, for the same reasons.

Because unlike gay shows like spongebob, anime like One Piece, Death Note, Dragonball, and many others, animes have one goal the main character is trying to achieve. Anime is made up of sagas or arcs that have smaller adventures, but you are constently reminded of the main goal. So you can't watch episode 50 of something like One Piece and expect to understand. In American cartoons it doesn't matter what episode is on, becuase there is no storyline.

Bacically you have to be intelligent to understand an anime. The backstories of main charaters are revealed as the story goes along, which makes it so great when you finally get to them. Just take the time to watch a classic and you'll soon see why its such a popular thing among even Americans. But I suggest you read the manga first so you know what parts are filler in the anime. What's the big freaking deal about making a "big freaking deal" about it?

What's it to you if we like anime? It's not as if it's /killing/ you, is it?

I didn't think so.

Besides, /thought/ goes into animes. Unlike "Catscratch", "My Gym Partner's a Monkey", or "American Dragon: Jake Long", these shows have stories, believeable stories that use real emotions and real situations. Even if it's a fantasy and there are elfs and dragons, most animes are centric about the cycles of Life & Death. Hrm... sounds kinda like reality, doesn't it?

The artwork in some Japanese anime features is excellent, and the stories hook me, too. Some are way more imaginative than anything Hollywood is doing.

In Japan, as many adults read comics and watch anime movies as younger people do.

(Most) American "cartoons" are childish and for kids. Japanese anime is mature themes, geared for those who are older and have more complex storylines. There are also many animes out there with graphic violence. That's the difference... And the art is top notch.

Some of my favorites:
They Were 11
Vampire Hunter D (very mature)
The Slayers

Why do American people think they HAVE to have a cell phone, HAVE to have an ipod, HAVE to watch MTV?

People like what they like. Why should they have to explain themselves?

Anime cartoons usually have very interesting, continuing storylines- sometimes they get really 'deep' and emotionally gripping. Cartoons you see in America are mostly just for kids, but Anime is made for people of all ages- namely, those who enjoy a good story along with cool characters and whatnot.

Why are u asking a stupid question? Never mind I don't want to know. Here's the thing, anime and magna usualy have a very intresting setting that people just like(or people are blood and violence fans, they both have that of corse, no offence if any) some of them are funny, some are romantic, all are violent, cursing, and most have crude humor.
