He's in his 50's, doesn't really have any hobbies, and recently lost his job. He has 2 kids in college. Any ideas besides clothes?

Once on Seinfeld, Jerry and George gave Elaine money for her birthday and Kramer said to Geo., "What are you, her uncle?" Since the gift receipient is your uncle (and he isn't working), some money might be a good gift. However, it might be more Christmas-like to give him the money in the form of a gift card (Target, WalMart, etc.). I have heard that Visa and AMEX even have gift cards that ppl can use like credit cards until the amount is used up. Or you can give him a Christmas gift basket that you stocked yourself with coffee, cookies, cheeses, crackers, etc.

A Triple A membership - as in AAA.
Along w/ roadside assistance you can get discounts on movie tickets and other attractions.
