Do prepaid cells work internationally? roaming?? Going on a cruise at Christmas time. Cunard cruise line. I have T mobile service, but they have no international or cruise ship plans so phone service is $5 a minute. Anyways have any suggestions? Would a prepaid phone work internationally/roaming?

You can get your phone unlocked and use a SIM from another country when traveling abroad, but I think as far as your cruise is concerned, you're facing a different issue. When you are out to sea, there are no cell towers to deliver your signal regardless of the provider. As you are aware, ship-to-shore phone service is incredibly expensive and in my opinion recommended only for emergencies. So turn off the cell phone, check email occasionally, and enjoy a disconnected vacation.

I even ought to disagree with Princess. I have a Tracphone and it rather works tremendous for my applications. I not often use my telephone and mostly I under no circumstances move over the minutes on their $20 playing cards with an hour of airtime and three months of provider. this suggests I land up paying about $8 in preserving with month for my cellular telephone! As on your uncle, if it says it comes with $40 of loose airtime then it really is what he receives. at the same time as he makes use of up the airtime he will favor to purchase extra.

Yes. Contract phones have to be unlocked to work abroad but pay as you go do not.
