It depends what kind of hysterectomy your having.
If you're having a laparoscopy-assisted vaginal hysterectomy which involves a shorter hospital stay, speedier postoperative recovery, and less analgesia use, there is also a higher rate of bladder injury and lengthier surgery. These outcomes must be weighed when choosing an intervention. Recovery is 2 weeks but no heavy lifting for 5 weeks.

C-Section: Recovery after a hysterectomy takes time. Immediately after a hysterectomy, you will stay in the hospital from 1 to 2 days for postsurgery care. Some women may stay in the hospital up to 4 days depending on their recovery from surgery. About 4 to 6 weeks after the hysterectomy, your doctor will examine you in his or her office. You should be able to return to all of your normal activities, including having sexual intercourse, in about 6 to 8 weeks.

When you leave the hospital you will do as much as you feel up to and "staying in bed" isn't a good idea after any surgery. You don't say what type of hysterectomy you are having which is a factor. Driving can usually be resumed in 4 to 6 weeks. As for above answer, you will definitely be moving before the third day. I came home on the second day and I had also had a baby with that!!

I was in the hospital for 3 days. I was moving around the day after the operation and did a little more each day. I didn't drive for 1 week counting the day of the operation. I was back at work (desk job) in one week. You get better every day. I didn't need any pain meds after I left the hospital so I didn't have issues with that and driving. We are all different.

Depends on how they are doing the procedure. If they are doing it abdominally (incision) you will be in hospital for about 2-3 days and then just limited lifting/pulling/pushing when u get home.
If you are having it done vaginally/laproscopically (little puncture holes in the abdomen) u will be in hospital 1-2 days with limited lifting/pulling/pushing when u get home. Hope this helps!!
