I'm a full time college student and it's close to finals time. When I'm not in school I'm usually working on homework or trying to relax a bit. My house is becoming a disaster and it makes me sick!!! I hate dirty houses!!! What can I do or how can I make time to clean? I don't work, so I have weekends free, but I don't want to spend them cleaning... any suggestions on how I can keep my house clean with the minimal time I have? I can't afford a maid.

Wake up a 1/2 hour earlier and spend that time doing a little cleaning. If your give yourself a set amount of time to clean everyday, such as 1/2 hour or an hour, you will be surprised at how much you can accomplish. Then don't worry about the house until after finals. The dirt will wait for you. And just think how good you will feel when you can give your house a thorough cleaning.

Go to the dollar store and get a kitchen timer. When you get home, set it for 15 minutes and clean! I straighten up while talking on the phone and during commercials. On the week-ends, I spend about an hour doing big chores, like washing floors or windows.

If it's really bothering you, why don't you invite some friends over and have a cleaning party? Buy some pizza and have everyone bring their favorite music and soda. That way you can have fun and get some help.

hire a cleaning service to clean for you the first time and then just keep up on the work daily, example: when your done in the shower, spray shower mist in the tub as it keeps dirt and soap scum down and your cleaning will be much easier, and n the kitchen just stay up on your work, when you know that your going to be really busy use paper products, throw aways are wonderful , Your bedroom is easy, if when your getting dressed you put everything in one spot the clothes you have tried on and have not worn, then 1 day a week you take 15min out and hang them or fold & put away. Hire a good company to do the work first.
Oh by the way I have a cleaning service ,We charge $12.00 room , and I will provide all of the cleaning materials.

Clean up as you go. Pick one room at a time and neaten it. Allow maximum of 1 hour (you choose time limit) cleaning per evening/afternoon. Instead of watching TV put some Red Hot Chili Peppers on the CD player (Stadium Arcadium is excellent), crank it up, and I dare you not to have fun and get a lot of cleaning done.

Do a few chores Friday night, less to do Sat and Sun.

Shove things in the closet and close the door - out of sight, out of mind.

Give your self a break!! I'm a neat freak too, but my beautiful abode is a cluttered mess today....clean counters attract mail, keys, books....they just can't stay neat and clean for long.

If you find the secret, PlEase let me know!! good luck
