I realized from that question or statement that I do that all the time & I'm sorry for that, sometimes people speak w/o even thinking about whose feelings they hurt. But I say that because first I want the g/l's to know that most of the straight people do support them & I thought that it would lessen the hatred that some gays have to feel against some, like when you get a guy like the jewhater on here spreading filth. I even loathe that sob.The second reason why is because my best friend in the world is gay but when we first started hanging out & I met some of his friends when I gave one of them a compliment, she thought I was hitting on her. For those reasons do you think that it's still ok to say I'm not gay or would you still rather not here it.?

Good question!!
My feelings are that just because you are not gay does not mean that you have to be closed minded. It is good that you are compassionate and understanding of other people's feelings and ways even if they are not the same as your own. That says alot for your character and principles.
I'm not saying that you have to be an activist or anything but by all means, if you hear someone speaking in favor of the voice of hatred, let them also hear your voice of love and understanding!
If more people in the world were as open minded as you, the world would be a better place and would be alot easier to live in!
I find myself defending other groups which I don't belong to, on a constant basis. All the fair minded people of the world need to put in their grain of salt to fight against all types of prejudice and hatred.
As a gay man, I am proud that there are people like yourself out there! :)

It adds credence to the support.
You don't have "a dog in that fight", yet you still support Gay/Lesbian issues. It shows the issues aren't just self-interest, that there are issues of fairness and justice involved.
I'm not straight. I do appreciate support from my straight brothers and sisters.
GLBT folk are a somewhat hated minority. It is understandable you wouldn't want to receive some of that hate because you are mistaken for one. You'll get enough, just for your support. Don't feel guilty for clarifying who you are.

a lot of biggots out there assume that if you support gays you must be on yourself, therefor people will end their answer with "i'm straight" or whatever. its sad really. we should support each other because we're human, not because of sexual orientation. my best friend is gay, and i've hung around with all her gay friends, but they know i'm straight (i think you can tell, or she told them all) but we all still flirt playfully, i'll even flirt with the gay guys. its all in good fun and we all respect each other so its fine.

I so totally agree with you, I;m staight and feel I need to say it for support purposes. I can't wait to see the responses. I do not want to offend any one, but I also would like to know if it's ok.

I've been actively bi for over 40 years, I am happy just to encounter straight people who don't actively attack or denigrate me. Stating your own preference shows that are not speaking from self interest but from a sense of right and wrong. It gives me hope for the future, thanks.
