i ama 31 year old male. i just got this job full time job in loss prevention, with very little experiance, heres whats making me uncomfortable, the women district manager who hired has been flirty, winked at me, has asked me how old i am, and said she hired me on her instincts. plus out of all the other candidates it only took her a few hours to make her decision on me. my question is, im here to work and do a job do you think she is just being friendly, or is it maybe more then that?

I wouldn't think too much of it, but I would begin to keep a record of her comments, gestures, etc. If the list continues to grow, you should contact the appropriate persons.

Go with your intuition. However sometimes the way certain people act men or women people blow it out of porportion. She just may be a cheerful happy person, however the winking is a little off. Maybe shes just trying to make you more comfortable. See how she is with the other males around, she might be like that with everyone. Maybe she did hire you on her instincts and maybe you had the type of positve attitude and personality that she though would go with the job wheater or not you have expierience. Just observe her around others. If it seems like it is only something she does when your around and no one is looking then be careful, because if you turn her down she may get you in trouble and make up rumors. Also dont give her any reason to think that you are interested which means not joking around, flirting back or anything remotley that could give her the wrong impression including getting to personal with her or discussing personal matters. Keep it strictly about work or the football game.

I guess you need to just give it some time and see what happens. It could be she's just that way, and it means nothing. As for her hiring you on instinct don't sell yourself short. You may have been the best candidate she found, or the one with the most potential. It's hard now a days with the whole sexual issue in the work place. It might just be nothing more than a friendly boss. Give it a chance. I would however keep track of anything that happens that you feel is inappropriate, just in case. And, if you feel this uncomfortable to begin with, you may want to rethink this job. Good Luck.

Well from the way your describing the situation she might have other intentions on you, namely of a sexual nature.

It all depends how you feel about the job/situation and how you are going to handle her. It might be worth chatting to some colleagues to see if she's like that with other men. I hope it works out or you could be in for an interesting time!
