Oil is not a forever thing, it all will run out and that is a proven fact. You destroy something that should not have lasted but has, for oil or money, then what type of people are we? Oil/money has a way of changing people. The rich would get richer and the poor would get poorer.
I would defintely keep the pyramids forget about the oil. Has not the past shown us what people would do for oil?? It is not worth losing your lovely country, your lovely Pyramids for something that deals with greed and promises only war in the future.

well having the pyramids in general we are already wealthy because we have the history a that place...oil is only here and now...the pyramids are then and we must learn from our past before we can move forward...besides some method used by the egyptians could give us an alternative chemical instead of oil but had the same effect or better...honestly if we dont know where our past is we have no future...the pyramids set the basis for measuring with out that we wouldnt have alot of things...so i think we should keep the pyramids and find another solution to the oil problem

by the way this is a very good qui. and a will rank it a good one
the pyramids not only just a stones made money come to us
it's a sympole
the oil may be made us rich in money but after the oil finish the thing that we will have will be no much oil any more and guss what no pyramids since we distroy it
we can made money not from the oil but from any thing we want
take libanon as an ex most of it's money from torists and we the country that have in loxur only the 1/3 of the antics in the world beside the other antics in the other cities in egypt beside there is no country in the hole world that didn't own egyptian antics and after all of that we cann't get same amount of money of torists that lebanon get from them that bcoz we didn't use our minds i think we r the richest country in the world but in thge history the governers take the egyptian money since the pheros until now and we didn't broke spend millions of money on mobile calls
we r the greatest number of mercides cars in the world the mercides cars in germany the egyptian branch made it to them then send it for them
and after that all u say we must destroy the pyramids to be rich people
for how many years we will be rich from this oil
maxico after 10 years of stealing it money by it's governers it broke it have no many
we don't after 7000 years of stealing our money we r already rich but u didn't know UK leave egypt and at this time we want money of it
the pyramids not only stones but it history it is knowlage forgine people could give us all there money to buy it from us
the britsh musume the greatest part in it is the egyptian while the smallest part is the britsh part
we have to be shoked to wake up from the sleeping

Why do something just for the money? I went to the pyramids when I was younger and just came back this weekend from taking my daughter there. There's just SO much history there!!!!
People will be poor, but we all manage to live with whatever amount of money we acquire. This piece of history...and all others that are preserved should be left intact for people to enjoy them as they were intended.

tourism, money, oil...crap
some things are more valuable than money, and the pyramids are a symbol for us, regardless of the number of tourists visiting them.
think about this, having no civiization, no history, no values, no monuments, and sacrificing anything for money, ring any bells??!
USA maybe?
this is the last thing we wanna end up like. God forbid

I will probably get slammed for this but in my humble opinion there is more to being rich than money.
I have traveled extensively to "poor" countries and I have found that the people there seem to be much richer than most Americans. Why? Simply because they are happier (or at least put on a good show of seeming that way), they are more oriented toward family and they work hard because things aren't simply given to them. Not to mention that they usually live in some of the most fascinating places of history. You are only as "poor" as you allow yourself to be. When I was in Egypt recently many Egyptians I met were amazed at the people of the country who chose to work very hard manual labor type jobs when they could get an education and work better jobs. They did not understand why they did not get educated better. I could be wrong but it seemed that education was very possible even if you didn't have alot of money.

I think if we give up our values and things that most identifies us, we will lose our identity and be an easy prey for anyone waiting for us to get weaker in order to attack us and occupy our lands.
I say we either figure out a technology whereby we can extract the oil vertically through pipes for instance or let it be. And most importantly not publicize the news because then we will definitely get pressured to extract the oil, or else we will be fought against by greedy nations who care for nothing but money as they have no identity themselves.

well we already have alot of oil but the reason why we aren't rich is due to the socialistic economic system and the huge number of people and the corrupt government (we have the 4th place in the natural gas reserves in the world)
but if for any reason we have the choice between riches and sentiment.. i would go for the sentiment , without memory and history we are lost..

i would not agree for a simple reason:
the government will get all that money, and the people will get none of it, so what will happen is that our beloved government will get richer and thats it..!!
but for the concept itself, if all that money went to the people who deserve it, i agree of course
those who don't, remind me of the ridiculous arabic movies and series where a man who is not able to afford his dinner doesn't want to sell his house which costs a fortune coz he has lots of beautiful memories in that house!!
we have to be more practical with these issues
just wanted to add for the people who are saying that without history we r lost and so, does the USA have any history, its only like 500 yrs old, no history at all, we have houses 500 yrs old that people live in!! but the USA r ruling the world, they r not lost or anything...
the problem is NOT that everyone has a car and a house and we want everyone to get the mercedes and the villa....but more than 50% of the egyptian peolpe r under the poverty line, u see that....NOT 50 % poor, but MORE than 50 % are LESS than poor!!
