yes. Although your baby will hear it, and you may get a sharp kick to remind you that baby heard it. It will not hurt the baby or his ears. I am 31 weeks and have shot my whole pregnancy, My hubby is a cop and we go shooting all the time. I also have two girls and shot with them as well. Your womb will protect them from the sound, and the jolt. I shoot a 23 glock with my hubby. It throws quite the kick, but I can't loose practice. My hubby might get better than me. LOL

everyone above has no idea.........they must play checkers for fun.

I can't even believe all the negative answers. That is why there is a womb. Imagine being under water. Then if you heard a gun shot, would it hurt your ears as bad? It is like wearing ear plugs. There is nothing wrong with that. The jolt is nothing more than a walking step to that baby. It is fine..

First off, concerning the baby's hearing... my husband and I go target shooting at a range that he belongs to. I was at matches and at the range several times throughout my pregnancy. Our daughter was born with perfect hearing. While in the womb, anything a baby hears is muffled greatly by the amniotic fluid.

Secondly, shooting at 9 months? I would go for it depending on the situation. Personally, I wouldn't go hunting at 9 months unless my family's next meal depended on it (and if that was the case, it'd be hubby to the rescue). I also wouldn't shoot competitively at 9 months. I know that I wouldn't be a contender in the sitting stage of the match (mainly because of the way shooters drop down into the sitting position) and I couldn't do the prone stage at all!

If it's target shooting, I'd say go for it. The baby is going to be safe and the fresh air (assuming we're talking about an outdoor range) will do you good.

There might be some concern about the recoil and sound wave of whatever you're shooting. I wouldn't shoot anything that is of too high a caliber while pregnant, but then again, even while I'm not pregnant, I don't want to shoot anything that knocks me on my butt! (I'll ask hubby about this part of it when he gets home. He knows quite a bit more about firearms than I do.)

I went to several matches with my husband while I was pregnant. I was on the ranges at Camp Perry when I was 5 months along. I wasn't shooting, but I wasn't far from several hundred people who were. The first time my husband was able to feel the baby kicking was after a day on the range! We're thinking she wanted to get out there and see what the fuss was about :-)

Edited to Add:

Bound's hubby here: As my wife stated, I would not suggest you are out shooting a competition or out hunting. I think if you are out at the pistol or rifle range plinking or practicing, I think you would be ok. The same if you were out at the Trap or Skeet range. I would suggest against shooting the heavy magnums or getting yourself into any awkward positions. I would also suggest you not be practicing for the next SASS or IPSC match ... no need to run and slip! Good luck!

Good luck!

My healthcare expert gave me the okay to duck and goose hunt freshen up untill transport. It did no longer worry me any shooting even 3 a million/2 shells. The walk to the duck blind in waders exchange right into a distinctive tale. i think of in case you have the splendid build for it then you definitely could be ok. it particularly is going to wake the baby however so be waiting for some action.

What kind of a gun are you using and what are you shooting at.
If you are shooting at a person, that is illegal even if you are not pregnant.
If you are target shooting, in a safe location, with a low noise no recoil gun I don't think there is any cause for concern.

I think it's safe. Just to be sure contact a shooting range and ask their opinion.
