virtual memory is when a PC uses up all your regular memory in the computer then it creates a file on your hard drive to act as additional memory space which is the worst thing that can happen to you since PC will lag horribly, to make more virtual memory space you can do the following.
1. if it asked you, a prompt window might just say yes to increace it.
2. Start->setting->control panal-> system->new window opens> click advance tab->Top setting button->advance tab again-> change button at buttom
now you can have system manage size or custome size in any location, when you done press set.
if you not good with PC's keep it system managed size.
3. restarting empties the virtual memory and solves most issues
4. if the virtual memory file is located per say in C drive and your C drive is full then deleting some unneeded files would be advised such as old movies,music pictures or others.

You can allocate more space as suggested with two restrictions. With 32 bit Windows, maximum virtual memory for a single application is 2 GBytes and, normally, 4 GB for all applications. Second restriction is lack of free space on a disk/partition. Additional space can be allocated on different partitions/disks, if available.
If an application is making changing demands for large amounts of data, the 2 GB limit can be reached when much lower capacity is being requested as each request requires sequential memory addresses and may be prevented due to fragmentation.

The first post is correct. You are increasing the size of the paging file. Be sure to have enough physical RAM. If you only have 256MB of RAM, more virtual memory won't be much help.
