I just started back to work yesterday after spending 2 months at home with my newborn. I breastfed exclusively while at home and thought that I would pump at work. It is way to busy to stop and pump and besides that the only place I can do it is in the women's restroom. Is it possible to keep up my milk supply if I feed the baby right before work and pump maybe at lunch and then feed the baby when I get home from work. That would be going 12 hours with only pumping 1 time. I really want to continue to breastfeed but am having a hard time to pump at work..Any suggestions???

i would suggest against it. You may become engorged and your milk supply will deminish very quickly. I suggest you ask your boss for an extra few breaks and keep up that milk supply. Your baby is more important. IF it is possible that you can get a break, then you may want to look at getting a automatic pump that can speed things up alot. good luck.

It is still possible, but your milk supply will decrease. The more you feed your baby (or pump) the more milk comes in. If you really want to stick with this I suggest trying to pump at least twice during the day. Maybe talk to your boss about another place to pump. It's not really fair that you should have to pump in the bathroom.Try to keep up the breastfeeding as long as possible!!

I breastfeed for 3 months and when I went back to to work, I did not pump. I still had milk to feed my baby at night. The only problem I found was that over time I produced less and less milk. But for me, I really enjoyed it and I got to slowly introduce the bottle and formula.

Your milk supply may diminish so you may have to supplement with formula. Check out your local laws on breastfeeding/pumping. I know in the USAF it's a regulation that the military has to provide us with pumping time thoughout the day. I'm not sure on the civilian world. Good luck, remember that you did great with feeding for 2 months. Also try to pump at lunch.

where do you work? is there somewhere where u can talk to ur boss and see if there's another room u can use for a half hour??

woah.. u work 12 hours a day? maybe u can cut down ur hours if u can afford it? i mean yea, pumping once u can do it, but expect that ur breasts will feel really full. but in a 12 hour day. u should pump at least 3 times.

i think u would b engorged and that is painful. try to pump every 5 hours if u can and hopefully that will b good enough. there is no shame in using formula

You need to check, but I think there is legislation in place at workplaces now for them to supply nursing mothers with appropriate hygienic places to express....check this one out. In the meantime just keep doing it when you can....good luck.
