I have been through both personally. This is what I learned.
Earth Quake:
1. You will need LOTS of water. you wouldnt believe how much water you use in a day. Yoru water from sink may or maynot be drinkable depending on severity of the situation.
2. Storable food stuffs, Canned goods, Freeze dried foods, Camping / hiking food, the camping stoves work great when you have no power for a couple days. Basically Camping gear lights, stoves ect ect.
3. First Aid kit and make sure you have Anti-Diarrheal, Head ache meds, Anti biotic.
Those 3 Stood out most in memory.
Guess#1 should be dont lose your head. Stay calm or as calm as situation permits. Earth Quake you done with pretty fast beside the after shocks. Hurricane you have heads up about so you can plan those better such as leave or not.
