The Great Wall of China is NOT one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The list was compiled by the Greeks and at the time they did not know about the Great Wall of China.

The Great Wall of China was built during the Qin Dynasty and got connected to the Mediterranean Sea when the silk roads were built around 220 B.C. The Greeks knew that the wall was there but, the list formulated by ancient Greek philosophers had been completed before the silk roads. In a short answer the great wall was built to late to be acknowledged as a wonder of the ancient world.

It is, depending on what list of the Seven Wonders you're looking at. There are actually multiple lists.
The Great Wall is on the list of Seven Wonders of the Medieval World. It is also on a rather unofficial list of what tourists think are the seven wonders of the ancient world.
But the Great Wall wasn't constructed in the "ancient" world. It was constructed in the 5th-7th century BC. The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World were typically constructed hundreds of years earlier.

every time i see a list of the new or modern seven wonders of the world, it's different. nobody agrees. the seven wonders of the ancient world are mediterranean-centric and set in stone, but updating things a bit i would say the wall is definitely one of the seven man-made wonders of the world. it can be seen from outer space, consider that

The phrase "seven wonders of the world" refers to natrually occuring wonders such as the great barrier reef. The seven natrual wonders of the world are:
Mt Everest, Nepal,
Victoria Falls, Zambia/ Zimbabwe
Grand Candion, Arizona USA
Great Barrier Reef
Northern Lights
Paricutin volcano in Mexico
Harbor of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Im sure if you were to compile a list of man-made wonders, the great wall of china would be one of them

I always thought it was the "Seven wonders of the natural world" and just shorted for ease of use in conversation. As such, it would not qualify.
