Grief is a fire that we have to walk through. Pain isn't always a bad thing, even though we may feel overwhelmed by it.
I know what it's like to to think, "I can't take one more step. I can't experience this pain one more moment". But I did, and looking back now, I know why I had to.
Sometimes life is like a long-distance marathon. You struggle for the next breath, everything hurts and you just can't imagine finding enough with-in yourself to cross the finish line... but you keep going... and you discover that you're stronger than you thought.
Life isn't about the avoidance of pain. Pain is often the surest sign that something is happening inside us that needs to happen. Out of the pain something good in us is created, though it seldom seems that way at the time.

I'll take a shot at this one. It sounds like you have suffered a loss of some sorts! :( I have empathy for you. On November 9th of this month My best friend lost her 1 yr old son! It was so DEVESTATING. I could not imagine loosing my children. But I know this even though she is hurting so bad right now, I know she will be ok. My sis lost her daughter my niece a yr ago. It is amazing how the grieving process works. I believe we do not have drugs to cover the pain of a loss for GOOD reason. If we cover, hide or mask our pain and feelings we can never fully come to the grips of the loss. You can see this same thing in drug addiction. Any addiction for that matter. Many addicts use for reasons like this.. PAIN! A huge majority of addicts have said that when they use they become NUMB! There worries go away until the high is over and then thier problems are worse. so to sum it up.. Everyone who suffers a loss grieves differently. there is NO set way to grieve. but to take meds to cover the pain in my opion would make it way worse in the end. I dont know what type of loss you have suffered if any, but just know that there is no wrong way to grieve :) Thanks!

Well there are legal drugs to ease and numb us through the immediate grief. But if we didn't learn to accept loss, learn what it is to hurt, we would be too fragile as a species and probably not be around as long. The physical result of hurting emotionally is that we learn survival/coping skills in much the same way we learn to survive the enviroment. It sounds cliche, but we do become tougher with time and experience.

We do. They're called anti-depressants. Everyone I know who has gone through the loss of a loved one through death has either been put on anti-depressants or offered them by their doctor. Grief and loss are not depression, though - the only way out is through. Any pill they invented for the pain of loss would be a mask, and the pain of loss would be worse when the pills ran out.

Because every person's emotional pain is unique whereas disease is common to us all.
