My goodness, what a question. GIS is the management, analysis, and dissemination of geospatial data.

Who uses or creates geographic information systems? Just about every industry, including business, defense, education, engineering, government, health care, cartography, natural resources, transportation, and utilities.

GIS = Geographic Information System.

Used with aerial photography. It can be used to mark telephone poles, streets, street centerliens, trees that are protected, etc. This is used to locate buildings, streets, etc. - Map Quest, Yahoo! Maps, etc.

Several different uses.
