I have horrible spending habits as well.. Have the tendency to spend stupidly on many SMALL purchases and then i'll wonder where all the money went .

My boyfriend and i just moved in together and are planning on getting married.
I sat down with both of our incomes and expenses and make a budge after reading several articles (you may want to reference MSN money, they've got some good tips)
We now have a wonderful budget that lets us see exactly where our money is going.
My suggestions:
Make sure you include EVERYTHING in your budget that you do on a regular basis. I realized at first I wasnt including small purchases like getting my hair done, or entertainment costs(movies are expensive). Also make sure you include any debts and EVERY bill....
Another great suggestion is to include Savings as part of your budget. We are trying to save for several large purchases over the next 2 years, so we include a set amount in our budget.. we put money aside.. just like any other bill... to go toward our savings.
Keep your receipts!.. for any purchase over$50., we both keep our receipts so we can sit down and see at the end of each month what we spent money on.

I created a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that is attractive and works great.... if you'd like, i can email it to you... or u can email me your information and i can input it for you.....

good luck. dont let your money get funny :-/

You can get excellent tips on various websites. I know this blog that has 3 or 4 budget-related articles. Maybe that will help you:
