Not a good thing, but one where younger people appreciate the wisdom of their elders. Asians, Europeans, Arabs and American Indians are into that.
Just about everywhere, except in the USA, where younger people are much in the habit of being totally disrespectful and rude to people older than themselves.
To them I say, wait some time and you'll find out about that yourselves, unless you die first.

Almost any country beside the States. When the parents get old, the children don't wantto be bothered with them and put them in nursing homes. The young ones have and show no respect for the elders. It's rare to see the young hold the door open for the older people these days.

I've seen the young ones rush through doors while the elders were in the door almost knocking them over, keep going without saying a word or looking back. Look at the countries of Asia, the elders are shown respect, asked advice from and never go to nursing homes. I've seen young in the States berate men who went ashore at Normandy, Iwo Jima just to name a few places.

Most under 30 in the States consider the elderly a burden. Watch and see who holds the door open for the elderly, 40 and above because they were still taught manners and respect for the elderly. That is not taught these days. I go to V.A Hospitol because I'm a disabled vet (in the line of duty) busted up left leg, going deaf because of gunfire and other injuries.

I get on the bus to go to V.A and the handicap seats are filled with the young. I taught my Daughter to respect the elders if nothing else because of their age and making it that far into life. But the men at the V.A hospitol have already earned her respect and she should show it to them.

That's the way I see it .

Once I went to the Columbus, OH zoo with my family when we observed something that might answer your question. There was a Japanese family visiting the zoo that same day. The family consisted of the matriarch, grandma, her daughter, and her 2 children. Grandma was in a wheelchair which was being pushed my one grandchild. Whenever they stopped to view an animal the other grandchild fanned grandma to keep her cool. I think that the Japanese have a deep respect for the elders. As I observed the children taking care of grandam they appeared to do so without argument but out of respect and duty, The scene was touching to me because American culture in general does not have this same respect for their elders.
