can i use a mouse as a joystick to play games?

Almost all games come with that capability. It's usually found in the controller settings of the options panel of the game.

Unless, that is, you are talking about console games (PS3, XBOX, etc.) in which case it is a lot more difficult.

hmm not sure you can, but there are a lot of games that can be played with a mouse only such as real time strategy games. If you can use the keyboard as well, you could certainly play first person shooters too.
