Drug abuse leads to poverty....hits health and puts family in trouble....

Absolutely. All of these are intertwined in a direct/indirect cause and effect relationship. Drug use can be both the cause and the result of poverty. And both are also the cause and result of family and health issues. Any can come before of after in different cases. For example, an uncontrollable drug addiction will lead one to banckruptcy,(poverty) and of course, to health problems. When one starts out in an impoverished state, he/she might turn to drug use/selling, etc. And in turn, severe health issues can eventually lead to poverty (not being able to afford the healthcare costs) This is also one of the main causes of homelesses.

you can go round in circles if you like!
poverty>drug abuse>health issues >family
family>drug abuse>health issues>poverty
health issue>drug abuse>poverty>family
brug abuse>family>health issues>poverty
just look at all the options and decide which way you want to go. you could do both positive and negative effects.

A friend's husband was both a drug addict & alcoholic who fell "off the wagon" & his wife didn't know it. He handled the family's finances. Then, one day he committed suicide. Her sister came to help my friend & their 3 minor children. While going through piles & piles of bills, it was discovered that not only had he stopped paying them, but that the bank was going to take possession of the house. Also they had received shut off notices for all utilities! If it weren't for her brother & sisters coming up with all that was due, my friend & her family would have been without a home or any money. As it is, my friend has lost many of her teeth because she can no longer afford to care for them. And she will never be the same mentally; she became clinically depressed & no longer able to work. She was never able to come out of it enough to return to work. Her children were raised in a filthy home. She didn't get out of bed until just before they would come home from school & they all put on weight because she no longer cooked & they ate fast food. Her children are now grown & will carry this burden for the remainder of their lives. I suspect that they are probably depressed & no longer think of suicide as being unthinkable; especially since my friend's mother also committed suicide due to health problems.

Allof these issues are linked. Here is a scenerio

John and martha live a social housing. martha has 3 teenage children children. Daffney19, Bryce 17 and Spencer 13 . John is a carpeter and Daffney works as a youth worker. All her children are at home and doing school or courses. Bryce has been acting out lately. Not coming home, hanging around a different crown, being agressive, not helping in the house, being aggressive to his mother, playing his music loudly at night, abusing neighbours.

John has been realy worried but does not know whhat to do. A neighbour had a talk with John and sugested taht some of the kids in the area had been using Crystal meth. John who has had his fair share of the hippy days in the 60's thinks its weed and stops worrying. It all comes to a halt when bryce is hospitalised with an overdose and some people are injured.

Martha is beside herself and it does not help that her colleagues at the Youth Refuge are making snide remarks that out of all the people they would not of thought her son would be an addict.

The other two siblings are being teased. The police have been by the house several times. There is talk hat Bryce can come home as there are no rehab centres for him and he is going to be charged with assault, assaulting a police officer.

Martha goes to her doctor as she has not been sleeping and gets some medication. She is fighting with John as she blames him because he was told something first and did not tell her!! Spencer was trying to make him self something to eat as meal times have stopped and routines are not happening anymore and broke all the china and glass ware in the kitchen accidently - it was piled up and he was trying to get his plate and the lot toppled over. and Martha lost it and was yelling and screaming at Spencer. Spencer has runaway to a friends house and does not want to come home.

John wants some time off but his boss has told him that no one can have time off as its a very busy period and wants John to do overtime. John has had enough and feels like the system has failed him and his family. John starts working late because he finds its calmer at work and he can just get on with his work and not fight. John is gone 12 hours day

Martha quits her job because its all getting to much and is trying to help Spencer and get him home. Daffney wants to move out as the situation is impacting on her studies.

Bryce comes home promising not to use again but he is using and going back to being aggressive and abusive. The doctors dont know how to treat him as crystal meth is relatively new drug on the scene.

A few weeks goes by and martha is taking quite a number of pills for her nerves. Spencer is staying with Martha's sister and Daffney has moved out to s student house. Martha and John rarely see each other. The bills are stacking up. Martha finds Bryce going through her bag looking for money, martha has an argument with Bryce, bryce assaults her and takes off with martha's purse.

These are typical scenerios where drugs can cause major issues within a family. and cause poverty, family and health isues. Hope its been helpful

You will find that all these issues relate back to poor geographical areas. People who come from from poorer areas are more likely to be dependant on drugs and have a poor diet. This leads to poverty that affects an individuals family. As well as this there usually are a high number of single parents who are dependant on benefits.... for example people become dependant on the 'Nanny sate' (Social services) and therefore find it difficult to break away this may be down to lack of skills and having no childcare.
