we normally tip by the 10 to 15 % rule. we also keep in mind in the service. if the service was very good, we may go higher. if it was very bad or if they were rude we tip less. at buffets we keep it low. i was a waitress for 4 years during high school and try to remember what it was like. hope this helps

I am a server, and I think it's quite acceptable. 20% is a good tip, no matter how small the bill. And no tip, no matter how small, should make a server angry-that's terrible! It's not a required practice, and servers are completely aware of the conditions under which we are paid when we accept the job! Anyone who isn't appreciative of any tip at all is completely ungrateful! Personally, I would be happy with the 20% tip, even if it were small. I would be extra happy if the tip were bigger since the table was being occupied, but I wouldn't feel ripped off or anything. So in general, 20% is okay, but the extra is greatly appreciated if you feel the server did a good job and was friendly. Also, I wouldn't go under 15% if the service was good ( It sounds like you know that, but not everyone here does), but if it wasn't good, lower is fine.

20-25% is considered a decent tip, regardless of the price of a meal. We always tip around 20%, slightly less if service is poor, slightly more if great service.

15% to 20% is usual for us. It depends, tho, on the service. If the waitress forgot to bring us any silverware, if she/he never comes to see if everything is okay, etc. Tip is smaller.
Some places, like McDonald's, etc, are not tipping places altogether.
$2 at your Mexican place is just fine.

I'm an Aussie and as you probably know we don't tip ANYTHING. but if its costing you $10 for both of you, give $5. It is however there job to serve you though, and they are already charging you for that service so you could give them nothing, then they'd be greatfull for $2. now everyones happy.

20-25 is the norm now, so $2. is fine on a $10. meal, if your server is very good/pleasant and your somewhat of a regular you can go 30 persent.

I would expect $2, but it would probably make my night a little better if I got better than I expected. Servers remember customers, and we remember you better if you tip extremely well, or extremely poor. And if you're known to tip over, you're more likely to get better service the next time around.

I think that is fair for the price of the food, but you also have to think of how your service was while eating there. Maybe $3 or $4 in that case. But I would say 10%

the tip is customerily 15% anywhere you go that there is table service. and that depends on the service. good service---good tip! 2$ would be 20% so i say yes to that!
